Life isn’t always easy. Sometimes, even the strongest people amongst us need a little bit of help to work through some of life’s more challenging problems. Everyone has battles to fight and hurdles to overcome at some point. Whether you struggle with anxiety, depression, self-esteem, or any other issue, you should know that there is hope for a better tomorrow.

Storms Make Trees Take Deep Roots.

When we experience a great deal of emotional pain or discomfort in our lives, we sometimes turn to short-term solutions for our problems. These impulsive choices take us away from our long-term goals of being healthy and effective people. Coping mechanisms become habits and addictions because we do not know how else to deal with emotional pain. Roots to Recovery is a group that focuses on finding the root of the problem and looking at all addictions from a dialectical perspective. We foster a safe environment where participants can reflect on the reinforcing nature of their behaviors, accept responsibility for the things they can control, and learn to use more effective long-term solutions to cope with emotional distress.

Getting Off the Emotional Rollercoaster

If you often feel sad, anxious, or angry without obvious reason, if your loved ones tell you that you are impossible to deal with, or if you constantly look for peace and happiness that never seem to exist, there are countless individuals who feel the same way you do. At Roots Counseling, we equate these unmanageable feelings to riding an emotional roller coaster—no matter how well other aspects of your life may be going, those on the roller coaster feel out of control and often spiral into patterns of negative emotion and behavior. There are highs and lows, some of which might even be enjoyable, but none of which are conducive to living an effective and emotionally healthy life. We dedicate ourselves to helping our clients understand where their emotional dysregulation comes from so that they can step off of the emotional roller coaster and take back charge of their lives.
